Clinton County Office of Emergency Services, the Clinton County Health Department and the CCMAC (Clinton County Multi-Agency Coordination Group) announce the offering of a FEMA training class entitled "Community Healthcare Planning & Response to Disasters". This training is applicable to all first responders (Fire, EMS, Police) as well as Public Works, PIO's, Hospital and nursing home emergency preparedness employees.
Description:
The National Center for Biomedical Research and Training (NCBRT) will be offering this course. When an entire community is affected by a large-scale incident involving mass casualties such as a natural disaster, a pandemic outbreak, or a terrorist attack, response activities require integration of emergency management, healthcare providers, public health officials, public safety officials, and other agencies operating in a community. Large-scale incidents are likely to overwhelm healthcare systems and communities must work together to address the needs of an overwhelming number of patients.
Course objectives:
This course will provide medium-to high-level decision makers with comprehensive planning tools to mitigate impacts on communities during large-scale incidents. This course examines the need for collaboration among responders in a community-side disaster response.
